Engula Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2025-12-02

This Privacy Policy applies to Unaro Technologies Limited (“Unaro”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

It explains how we collect, use, and protect information in connection with:

  • The Engula website, currently available at https://engula.io (the “Website”), and
  • Information you choose to share with us about your use of Engula.

By accessing or using the Website, or by communicating with us, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should stop using the Website and not provide us with your personal information.

1. What Engula is

Engula is an in‑memory database intended to be deployed privately in your own environment (for example, on your own servers, infrastructure, or local machines). Engula is designed for self‑hosted and private deployment. We do not operate or provide Engula as a hosted online service where we control your data.

When you run Engula in your own environment, any data you store in Engula remains under your control. Unless you explicitly send us data (for example, logs or sample data as part of a support request), we do not have access to the data stored in your private Engula deployments.

As a result, this Privacy Policy focuses on:

  • Information collected when you visit and use our Website; and
  • Information you voluntarily provide to us in communications about Engula.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

We may collect information that you choose to provide to us, for example:

Contact and support communications

When you contact us by email (such as support@montplex.com, privacy@montplex.com, or jobs@montplex.com) or via other channels (for example, Slack or other community platforms), we may receive:

  • Your name or username
  • Your email address
  • The content of your message and any attachments (for example, questions, feedback, logs, or diagnostic information that you choose to share)

Job or collaboration inquiries

If you contact us about working with us or collaborating (including by emailing jobs@montplex.com or support@montplex.com), we may collect:

  • Your name and contact details
  • Your résumé, profile, or background information
  • Any other information you choose to include

We do not currently offer user accounts or login features on the Website, and we do not provide any hosted or online “Engula” service. Accordingly, we do not collect registration information such as usernames or passwords for an online Engula service.

2.2 Information collected automatically when you visit the Website

When you visit or interact with the Website, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Referring URL (the page you came from)
  • Pages visited on our Website and time spent on each page
  • Date and time of your visit
  • General usage statistics and diagnostic data

This information is typically collected through cookies and similar technologies and is primarily used to understand how the Website is used and to improve it.

2.3 Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies on the Website to:

  • Measure traffic and usage trends
  • Understand how visitors interact with our pages
  • Improve the content and usability of the Website

Your browser may allow you to block or delete cookies. If you block cookies, some features may not work fully, but you can generally still access the Website.

3. Third‑party services we use

We use certain third‑party services in connection with the Website and our communications. These providers may process limited amounts of personal information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

3.1 Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (“GA4”) to collect and analyze information about how visitors use the Website.

  • Service provider: Google Ireland Limited (or the Google entity responsible for your region)
  • Service: Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as:

  • The pages you visit and how long you stay on them
  • Your browser type and operating system
  • General geographic region (for example, country or city, based on IP address)
  • Other usage statistics

We use this information to:

  • Understand how the Website is used
  • Improve our content, documentation, and navigation
  • Analyze aggregated usage trends over time

According to Google’s current documentation, when collecting data, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Where supported, we also configure Google Analytics to use IP anonymization or equivalent features, so that IP addresses are shortened or not stored before further processing. We do not use Google Analytics to identify you as an individual user.

Our contracts with Google and Google’s policies prohibit sending personally identifiable information (PII) (such as names, email addresses, or exact postal addresses) to Google Analytics, and we take steps to avoid including such information in analytics data.

You can learn more about how Google processes data in its own privacy documentation at:

You can opt out of Google Analytics by:

  • Installing a browser add‑on that blocks Google Analytics (for example, a Google Analytics opt‑out add‑on), or
  • Adjusting your browser settings to refuse or delete cookies, which may affect the functionality of some websites.

Where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent before using cookies or similar technologies for analytics. You can withdraw your consent at any time by updating your cookie preferences or changing your browser settings. Withdrawing consent will not affect processing that has already occurred.

3.2 Community and collaboration tools (e.g., Discord, Slack)

We may use third‑party platforms for community discussions and collaboration, for example:

  • Discord
  • Slack

If you join these communities or contact us through them:

  • Your use of these platforms is governed by their own terms and privacy policies (for example, Discord’s or Slack’s policies).
  • We may see information you share there, such as:
    • Your username or display name
    • Your messages
    • Any files or content you post
  • We may use this information to respond to your questions, gather feedback, and improve Engula and its documentation.

We currently use these platforms only for informal community communication. We do not treat participation in these platforms as creating a formal user account for any Engula online service.

3.3 Other tools

Apart from the services described in this Privacy Policy, we do not currently use additional third‑party services that process your personal data through the Website.

If we add such services in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy.

    • Reviewing feedback and bug reports
    • Understanding how Engula is being used (to the extent you choose to share that with us)
  3. Community and communication

    • Interacting with users and contributors through community channels
    • Sharing updates and information related to Engula
  4. Security and legal compliance

We do not sell your personal information.

In some jurisdictions (for example, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom), we must identify legal bases for processing personal data. Where those laws apply, we generally rely on:

  • Legitimate interests To operate and improve the Website, respond to your communications, manage our community, and protect our systems and users. We balance these interests against your rights and expectations.

  • Consent For certain uses of cookies and analytics where consent is required by law. You can withdraw your consent at any time, but this does not affect processing that has already occurred.

6. How we share information

    • Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues

7. Data retention

  • Running and improving the Website
  • Communicating with you
  • Meeting legal and compliance requirements

Examples:

  • Emails and support communications May be stored for as long as needed to manage our relationship with you, maintain records of our communications, and comply with legal obligations.

  • Analytics data Retention depends on the configuration of Google Analytics 4 and similar tools and is typically kept in aggregated or pseudonymous form.

When we no longer need personal information for these purposes, we will delete it or anonymize it so that it can no longer be linked to you.

8. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to help protect personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

You should be careful about the information you choose to send to us, especially via email or public community channels. Please avoid sending sensitive data unless it is strictly necessary and you understand the risks.

9. International data transfers

Depending on where you are located and where our service providers operate, your personal information may be processed in other countries that may have different data protection laws from those in your country.

Where required by applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to ensure an adequate level of protection for personal data in connection with such transfers, for example through contractual protections.

11. Children’s privacy

The Website and Engula are not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

If you believe that a child under 16 has provided personal information to us, please contact us at privacy@montplex.com, and we will take appropriate steps to delete such information where required by law.
